The loading and unloading of large merchant ships often required large heavy barge cranes such as the Constitution of New York.  This 150 foot, 1003 ton steam operated crane, owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, was built in 1944 in Wellston, Ohio as the JW #1 .  She remained in Baltimore Harbor for several months into 1970 and was often seen loading and unloading ships along the Clinton Street piers as in this scene transferring very heavy cargo onto the Har Canaan.

I believe the Har Canaan was operated by the El Yam Bulk Carriers of Haifa who also operated Har Carmel and Har Sinai.  I have not been able to determine any specific information regarding her size, etc.; however I expect her length was at around 500+ feet and about 19,000-20,000 gross tonnage.
